Hi Meg

Guidelines for collecting, storing ebm for compromised babies in hospital
settings are much more stringent and need to be. I recommend the use of
sterile, rigid containers, not bags in these cases. If you are talking about
a working mom or an at home mom storing extra ebm for her own healthy baby,
then I recommend clean vs sterile techniques. If you want to sterilize the
ice cube trays before using, then you could run them thru a "sani cycle" on
a dishwasher top rack, if available. Dont' know if they would be able to be
boiled. The ones I have seem that they would stand up to it. Like you said,
freezer bags are not sterile, and don't need to be for a healthy baby. I
tell moms to think of their ebm as food, and generally handle and store as
you would when preparing or freezing your dinner.
