Hi Gonneke, you say:

"A mother with a second baby of 7wks has diarrhea (the mother, not the baby
since a week. 4-5 wks after the birth of her first (also breastfed) baby the
same happened and lasted for months."
This sounds like 'iritable bowel syndrome' (IBS)to me. Without having any
references, I wonder if this is not because of breastfeeding directly, but
maybe a reaction to being postnatal(drop in hormones and their effect on
the mothers immune system). I anecdotally know of mothers experiencing new
allergies, joint pains, IBS etc after they have had a baby that often goes
on for the first 12 months. Someone like Maureen Minchin would would have a
better explanation fot this! (Are you out there Maureen?)
Personally I experienced this (IBS and inflammatory joint pains) with my
first 2 children and not the third.
Interested in what others think or have witnessed.
