Hello everyone, I need your help! My family and I recently relocated to Kentucky from Maryland. I went from a very progressive hospital in the area of Lactation to one where most people are not even sure what the word means! I have many battles ahead of me in changing views of Physicians and staff. My first challange is changing the current practice of glucose water supplememtation in the breast feeding infant. Currently if a baby does not have a good nursing session, they are brought to the nursery and fed 1-2 ounces of glucose water....after each nursing session! Apparently it is not enough the AAP does not recommned this practice. I feel if I can educate the MD's with valid documentation of how this affects nursing, I could start to change their minds and the policy. Any references or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!! You may email me at [log in to unmask] Thank you in advance....Michele Linn RN,IBCLC *********************************************** The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(TM) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
