I searched the archives to find the post that appeared on May 25, at the start of a very busy weekend for me. I had briefly noted a short comment in Kathleen Bruce's post "list volunteers" which I have been thinking about and meaning to comment on: <Dear All, I wanted to let you know that Kathleen Auerbach has retired from Lactnet as listmother. She began this list with me, in 1995, and worked with us here for many years, administering the list and advocating for you, the subscribers, and for the many breastfeeding mothers who were touched by you all, as a result of our volunteer work. If you wish to thank her for her good work, she is at [log in to unmask] Thank you Kathy, and hats off to a lifetime of meaningful achievement in the breastfeeding world, and specifically in the online breastfeeding education world.> I want to express personally to Kathy Auerbach my deep gratitude and respect for all she has done for the LC profession with her vision, nurturing guidance, inspiration, literary endeavors too numerous to count, and not the least of all for her "doulaing" of Lactnet. I became absolutely "hooked" on it when I finally got a computer. It has provided me a brand of intellectual companionship rare in this world, accessible 24 hours a day, and brought me many hours of solace and meaningful dialogue as I made my personal transition from wifehood to widowhood. It has enabled me to "connect and become friends with" many fascinating kindred spirits all over the world, and I want to publicly thank Kathy A. (and all the other listmothers) from the bottom of my heart. I am a better, more informed (and happier) LC because of your efforts. I salute you. Jean *************** K.
