Did anyone see Good Morning America, Monday am around 8:30ish? They did a piece on a (current?) BabyTalk magazine survey of Breast vs. Bottle. It was quite useless with name calling - selfish bottle feeders vs. breastfeeding zealots (martyrs?) focusing on the need of both sides to say the other side was wrong. Fortunately, however the one mom who breastfed came off quite well saying something about how she felt that lack of education or support was the root of the problem, whereas the bottle feeding mom talked about how she wants her own time to take a shower, shop, nap, etc. -- quite reinforcing the "selfish" label (smirk, smirk.) Anyway, what irked me most was the ending commentary between the medical reporter ( who writes for "Parents") and the male anchor (sorry I don't watch and don't know his name, my mom called me to put the TV on -- Harry ?) His comments were incredulity over why either side thinks they're right and his personal admission that as a father of now grown kids, how much he relished his bottle feeding time, doing the night feedings. He ended this comment with what sounded like a sincere question to the Dr., "Is breastmilk really that much better?" She give the perfunctory, "Oh well breast *is* best but it's not for everyone and formula is so great and it just keeps getting better, blah, blah, blah. Aargh! I just thought I'd share this in case anyone had the chance to respond to the anchor with the real answers to his question!
