Subject: umbilical cords on longer while breastfeeding?

Lactnetters,

An LC collegue of mine just shared with me that a mother she was working
with
was told that the cord stump stays on breastfed babies longer than formula
fed babies. I searched the archives and could not find anything on this.
Has anyone else seen heard this and if so were does it come from?

I have never heard of this, my home birthed, breastfed baby's cord fell off
on day 3. (we could do an informal survey on the list, but I think we'd be
heavy on the breastfed baby population!)
