Donna, The BAB, as you know, approaches issues from the perspective of "how to counsel about..." for the most part. It does provide a wealth of information. But Breastfeeding and Human Lactation by Riordan and Auerbach is one of the definitive "scientific texts" on breastfeeding. It covers the same categories of issues presented in the BAB and also discusses research, history, cultural perspectives and in depth anatomy and physiology of breastfeeding. ( In fact, it is one of the texts my friend and I used in studying for the IBCLC exam in 1998. During study sessions we would periodically look at each other and let out blood curdling screams when confronted with so much information to learn! ) So I guess it depends on how much information your group Mom wants. :-) By the way, we were very glad, as it turns out, to have all that wonderful information. :-) Jean Macomber, RN, IBCLC Lactation Consultant The Family Birth Place St. Luke's Hospital Jacksonville, Florida 32216 904-296-5212 > ---------- > From: Automatic digest > processor[SMTP:[log in to unmask]] > Reply To: Lactation Information and Discussion > Sent: Friday, March 23, 2001 12:11 AM > To: Recipients of LACTNET digests > Subject: LACTNET Digest - 22 Mar 2001 (#2001-29) > > > Date: Thu, 22 Mar 2001 08:36:44 -0800 > From: Donna Hansen <[log in to unmask]> > Subject: difference between BAB and Bf and Human Lactation > > craving some really thorough science about lactation. > Donna Hansen > Burnaby, British Columbia > > ------------------------------ > > > *********************************************** The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(TM) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
