Question: Can an LC or other person provide a mom with domperidone legally? Marie, I agree with your statement: Prescription drugs are given by prescription for a *reason.* As a nurse, registered in NY, VA, and DC, I would fear that in giving *any* prescription drug to an adult, far less a lactating mother, I'd be risking my license to practice. My instructors at school always drilled it into us that an action like this constitutes practicing medicine without a license. However it's my impression that domperidone is not a prescription drug in the US because it is unavailable. I don't have any idea what this might do legally. Does a drug that was formerly a prescription stay that way? Any lawyers listening? --Denny Rice, RN, IBCLC --Dallas, Texas *********************************************** The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(TM) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
