This is my first post here, and I hope the format is correct. I am working with a mother who has a nine day old with a condition called DPA (?) in which the adjustment from fetla heart flow to postnatal heart flow was not completed. The baby is very small, and does not nurse effectively. Mom has reasonable concerns about milk supply, and nipple confusion (she is pumping and giving breastmilk to baby in a bottle). This Mom has seen a local hospital IBCLC, who confirmed that baby has a good suck, but baby is still not nursing efectively for more than a minute or so. I suggested switch nursing, and possibly use of the SNS from the hospital in stead of the bottle, and of course always nursing before the bottle. Does anyone have any experience with this. Baby may face surgery, Mom is very stressed, and I don't want to add more stress for her! *********************************************** The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(TM) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
