I believe Merilee asked about domperidone. If I remember correctly Merilee is in Switzerland? Is that right Merilee? I'm not sure what is law in your area and if you are a healthcare provider like a nurse besides a bf professional. Anyway, you can check the archives for pros/cons posted about doing this (?prescribing). In my setting, as a hosp-based LC and an RN, I tend to agree with Marie's position. What I do if I think a mom might benefit from domperidone is to share some info on the drug (along with all her other options) and then refer her to her physician for them to discuss further. Had a physician prescribe it for a lady who did get it from Canada but it didn't help that mom. I realize the mom could get it from Mexico w/o prescription but I am not comfortable with that so I don't even mention it. Laurie Wheeler, RN, MN, IBCLC Violet Louisiana, s.e.
