About the baby with blood in stools-- glad I'm not the only one wondering why it was even checked. Is it even certain that the blood is the baby's? If mothers are sore, babies can spit up blood ingested with milk. And mothers whose milk is blood-tinged are also passing blood to babies, which will cause baby's stools to test positive for occult (hidden) blood. If it is frank blood, I would suspect the source to be near the outlet. Is anybody besides my unit still doing the occasional rectal temp measurement?
