Dear Lynnne & Heather Sorry if I was vague. It seemed to me that I was writing too much. Mom had an abundant suppply in the beginning. What she discribes sounded like overactive milk ejection Baby's response to that might have been to tongue thrust, or baby might have been sucking on her tongue in utero. I'm only guessing here. when I first saw the baby anytime I tried to look into its mouth the tongue was on the roof of the mouth. Mom used to be able to pump 2-3 ounces with no problems and now barely gets 1/2 - 1 ounce at a pumping. Baby was nursing fine and gulping milk but is now only staying on for a short time. My hunch is that she is used to fast, abundant flow, and had no probluem getting milk with her poor suck before, but now that she has to work for it baby is frustrated. Baby is not nursing well at all ene with correct position she reverts to a shallow latch and clicking noises very quikly. I never thought of cliking as normal for some babies do you really think that it is o.k.? Hope this clarifies my previous post.
