Why is it that your job is on the line when they are the ones giving inaccurate info? Needless to say I would begin the letter with a positive approach ie. "these are the most commonly addressed areas in my teaching" then go on to list all of the areas that you have heard the most backward ridiculous advice on, with the right advice, well referenced of course. You can tell them that you understand the confusion caused with conflicting info., that you want to familiarize them with the info you share and why you choose to share it! Its a perfect oppurtunity, I think! I might even capitulate and tell them that you apologize, that perhaps you could have shared this info. from the beginning and avoided any potential probs and that of course you want to be on the same "team". I might even offer them the chance to observe your practice, class whatever or offer them an inservice on any areas that they may still feel at odds with you about. I might also add that you realize that there are certain areas that are "open to interpretation" , maybe frequency of fds. etc. and that you try to encourage families to be open to this in the search for what works for them! AND I would try to find a way to include Pat's point as above since it does a lot to make the whole thing seem super silly!
