To add to the thread of what the LC is wearing... Since I just changed roles from staff NICU RN to LC, the decision was left to me on how to dress. But professional was the suggestion I went with, for now. So nice clothes with a lab coat. I don't think it will create resentment among the staff as they are so happy that I can help them out with breastfeeding (one word!) issues. We are going to combine LC duties with early discharge follow up and see how that goes---returns for valid metabolic screening tests (if 1st one was done at less than 48 hours), bilirubin levels for jaundice, weight checks, etc. The administration is hoping that will justify the 1.0 FTE position.
