I also feel the wish to limit sales of all pumps on ebay is misguided. I also dislike when I hear how Medela makes retailers sign a contract not to sell the PNS for less than a certain amount. And I find it telling that the obviously financial argument about the PRICE of the pump being too low shows up in a thread supposedly about client safety and well being. While I feel my fellow LCs here on Lactnet are wonderful practioners and good people I think this really smacks of the type of confused thinking that comes about when a health care provider makes a profit off of the products used to provide said care. We have discussed this before and I am aware of the need to have products to do our job and the need to make a living in order to continue doing our job. Please, though, if you find yourself complaining about being UNDER PRICED don't talk about patient safety. Talk about fair commerce or something, but not patient safety. We have enough fear of breastmilk in this world without us adding to it. I remain fondly respectful of all my fellow LCs as we try to find our best path in this thorny patch.
