Recent AP articles say this is the newest problem with US babies. Article had a photo of a child with "dynamic orthotic cranioplasty band." Manufacturer of the band has said orders from docs have doubled in recent years. Infant car/hand carriers are to blame also as babies are always leaning on the backs of their heads in these. Doctors are banding heads to restore babies round head form. Ouch! The Questions? Do breastfed babies exhibit this to the same degree? Why aren't babies put on their sides to sleep at times? My now 24 year old nephew was bottle fed raw goat milk and his bottle feeding positioning was facing the feeder up on their bent knees propped on the coffee table. He has a flat head. Breastfeeding latch on postioning puts babies on their sides and alternates the left and right side all the time. Plus the calcium and other minerals in BF is more absorbable. I would think this is less of a problem in BF babies. Any comments? As a side note, I put my daughters to sleep during the day propped on their side in the bassinette, then against the crib bumper pad. I didn't sleep with my first. The second daughter was just in the king bed wherever she wished to be. She "crawled" to my breast by the morning, though I never video taped it as I would have liked to have seen how she accomplished this 3' from the other side. (Dad was in the guest room bed for a few months, due to not liking lights coming on at night to clean a poopy diaper. Blue eyes are more sensitive to light than brown.)
