OK, I'll join in. My children were born in 1970, 72 and 75. Remember the context: breastfeeding rates were at the lowest in 1972, around 25% in the US. As a military wife, we moved around a lot when the children were small. Just off the top of my head, here's a short list of places where I nursed my children in public: * At the Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial, and in line touring the White House * San Diego Zoo; Colorado Springs zoo; Washington zoo; San Antonio Zoo; Baltimore Aquarium; Lion Country Safari in Texas; Six Flags over Texas; Disney World; Disneyland * On board the USS Constitution; USS Alabama; and various boats at my mothers' house on the Niagara River * Several plane trips (once traveled alone with a four-week old and a 2 year old - quite an "interesting" flight) * More commissaries (food stores) and department stores than I care to count * A bunch of churches - yes, did it right out there in the congregation, not the "cry room" * Waiting rooms/areas of all kinds - clinics, banks, businesses, government offices, etc. * In the park, and in the dark * and on a train, and in the rain * and with lunch, and in a bunch (of other nursing moms) * Yes, I nursed them - mom I am!
