The "risk of hemorraging" reason for peeing before bf is not a joke, I guess, but it did make me laugh. In prenatal talks I do tell women: "Listen, when you sit down to bf in the first few days you are about to pay attention to what you are doing for a few minutes. The baby will need attention, and so will your latch. You want to get relaxed and undistracted if possible. So if you need a drink of water, if you need to pee, whatever, hurry up and get it out of the way before, so you can sit down and focus." Of course that's in week one of baby #1, when half of us are so stressed out we really do forget to pee unless someone reminds us. So I'm certainly not saying that that brochure was other than patronizing in the way it came off. But it may have had an intent that was better than its effect.
