Hi Ruth. I think that as practitioners, it is time to ask the physician involved for his/her research that shows that formula is safer than breastfeeding, even in light of concurrent cigarette use. Breastfeeding is not on the stand...and we should ask others for the same documentation that they ask us for. What's good for the goose is good for the gander, as my mom always says.
