Dear AAFP/lactnet members and everyone else interested, In March, I received a bulletin from the American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation announced new patient education material, Breastfeeding your Baby, Going Back to Work and Starting Solid Food. I sent an email expressing my concern that Nestle was the sponsor of those handouts and that I could suggest more appropriate patient education handouts. I received a letter from the executive vice president that these handouts were reviewed by two family physicians with a special interest in nutrition and a dietician with interest in bf and lactation management. "We are confident that all three pieces were received a thorough review under the health education program process". I was invited to contact Ms. Panther, Executive Vice President at [log in to unmask] to discuss further concerns. I definitely will. I don't know if I can change the world, but I hope I can influence the AAFP. I hope the other Family Doc's on lactnet would take time to express their concern. The AAFP does have handouts from Best Start to pass on the physicians.
