After reading the WIC article in the JHL today and seeing the comments on
Lactnet, I have to say that the article by Cynthia Tuttle, PhD, had good
points but missed what I view as an important aspect of the problem.  Most
WIC infants get that first free dose of infant formula courtesy of the
hospital they are born in and not from the WIC Program.  So the urge to fix
the WIC Program has got to be coupled with a changes made in giving away
formula at hospitals.  I agree with Tuttle's suggestion of  having
prescriptions for formula but I believe that should not be just for WIC moms
