I need some help with a baby who gets frantic after about 5 minutes on the breast. He is 3 months old. He had been growing well with once a day supplement. I think there was some perceived insufficient milk. After mom having a bad URI and decreased fluid intake baby had been getting frantic after about 5 minutes. He would latch and suckle well per mom then fuss and pull off. Mom would try the other side and the same would happen. Breast compression didn't seem to help. His feeding had been about every 1 ½ to 2 hours day and night but slept better with mom. He did somewhat better with mom sitting up than mom lying back or down. Makes me think he doesn't like the low flow from the breast and that the flow is slow verus too fast. No evidence of thrush, otherwise healthy baby. No s/s of reflux. We discussed normal feeding and sleeping patterns, the concern seems to be his behavior at the breast. He has been on abm for 1 week b/c of this. Does well doesnt reflux although I am suspect there is reflux. I had seen him feed well in the past. Our plan is to have mom start double pumping and taking fenugreek to re-lactate while I sought help.
