Thanks to all of the many wonderful participants of this listserve who took
the time to respond to my request for strategy techniques to help the back
to work nursing mother whose child care facility reported that her baby ( 8
weeks old) would not take the EMM from a bottle but would take formula.
She has found a more suitable child care situation. This family is Jamaican
and have many friends in the Jamaican community. Her mother's friend who
keeps a toddler for another family has been contracted . She lives nearby
and is well respected in the community. The mother did everything on her
own after first telling me about the situation . All I did was listen and
report to the lactnet community. I did suggest that she let her family
give a bottle of EMM over the week end as many suggested. She planned to do
that when I talked to her tonight she did not do that-- she forgot to do
that and just as always nursed at every cue. That is a nursing mother for
you.
She feels confident that the baby will take milk form this lady and the
baby's grandmother will be there the first three days. She sounds relieved
and happy with this change.
Interesting how most everyone that responded ---responded from the gut first
then proposed a solution or explanation of what may have happened. Thanks
for taking the time .
