I have a mom who is adopting soon. She is currently nursing her 3.5 yr old. She boosted her supply way back up very easily with very frequent pumping and is elated with the results. She's making well over 30 oz a day now to store. However, some fellow nursing friends got her all paranoid. They told her since the milk banks won't take 'older' milk it stands to reason her milk which is for a 3.5 yr old is not sufficiently nutritive for a baby. Now I know this isn't an issue in tandem nursing (as does she) but I haven't been able to find anything that says 'older' milk would be better for her baby than formula. I should say we both 'know' it is, but she's concerned and would feel better to know if anyone has studied this. Sincerely, Wendey in Montreal, just studying for now and doing warm line support... *********************************************** The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(TM) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
