I note in Barbara Wilson-Clay's and Kay Hoover's excellent The BF Atlas
there is discussion of this on p. 15. "Meier et al found [N=34, 31.9 ave
gest age] ...that these babies were able to take in 14cc more...with a
nipple shield..." The ref is Meier, Brown, Hurst, Spatz, Engstrom. Nipple
shields for preterm infants: effect on milk intake and duration of bf.

I assume this means it is yet to be published. Can BWC or others give us
more details?
