Insulin needs do drop and food needs rise. She is probably simply not eating enough calories. I would hazard a guess that she needs to begin to lower the insulin and increase her food and monitor her blood sugar closely until she hits the right balance. There is some delay with lactogenesis mentioned in bf texts but they say a few days and this mom is past that. This whole juggling act goes into reverse when baby is weaning.
