Hello wise ones, Once more I'd like the opinion and expertise of 2500+ very wise people on the following: This mother gave me permission to post this, for she thinks it's time to get this problem out in the open. I hope it makes a little sense, for I had to translate it. The archives turned up with nothing on haemorrhoids. remarks between ** are mine. "Hello, I'd like to ask you a question. I have a 7 week old daughter, whom I breastfed for 6 weeks *that's pretty much standard here, unfortunately*. Because I suffer from a severe form of haemorrhoids, fissures and a 'sagging' anus, I had to take medication ( corticsteroid suppository and Ibuprofen 400 mg 4 t.d.)for several weeks now. Unfortunately the problem only gets worse. Those six weeks I had to undergo terrible pains but I still tried to breastfeed my baby. Now I gave up, for I'm taking all that nasty stuff but also because I don't know how to sit, stand or walk *because of the pain, I guess; why not feeding lying down, with a little help that should be more comfortable, don't you think?*. I hope that because I quit breastfeeding it will heal quicker because of the more balanced hormonal state of my body *aaaarrggh*. Is this thought reasonable? And what if a little miracle happens and ,say, within a week everything is healed... would it be possible to start breastfeeding again? *I told her carefully that it is possible to relactate but it's going to take a lot of motivation, didn't mention pumping for the above stated so called hormonal reason*" .
