Hi!
Annie Furie here from Albuquerque. Thanks for all the wonderful
response on the use of Reglan. I'll see this pt. tomarrow and see
what effect it' had. I guess I also need to assess her total # of
pumpings better.
HELLP ssyndrome stands for Hemolysis, Elevated Liver enzymes and
LowPlatelets. It is, in effect, when the blood clotting factors go
haywire and clot intravascularly. Thus bleeding is uncontrolled and
people suddenly bleed out.
PIH- I have had one pt. with severe PIH whose baby was delivered
by C/S prematurely, don't remember the gestational age, and who
pumped diligently with a double Lactina and never did get any type
of milk supply. I think that severe PIH can cause this also. I guess
I just figure if the mother is that sick all her energy goes into
healing her own body. Hope I'm not too simplistic.
Thanks for the remembering the term Sheehan's syndrome. That's
correct. I guess you'd see the same with HELLP, but then again as
the case study presented showed, not always. Aren't human bodies
amazing?
Good chatting with you all.
