 I'm feeling concerned the infant may not be able to utilize the

That would be during the same meal or thereabouts.

However, frank iron deficiency anemia during infancy does not bode well for
the baby's future intelligence.  It also puts the baby at higher risk for
lead toxicity, if any exposure exists (and it may, vis-a-vis lead solder
used in household plumbing and other household sources).  She ought to have
baby retested and see where his/her iron levels are now.
