She is has a support group she is not attending, and is supposed to be
receiving mental health services from her HMO, but not going. She has a
Public Health Nurse who does home visits and is monitoring the baby very
carefully, and is in contact with the nutritionist in WIC, who was the
person who referred her to me. (I work for the County as a consultant of
"last resort" to go to the moms WITH the Public Health Nurses so that they
can learn from me...)

My concern is what to watch out for in the baby - and have gotten some
feedback from some dieticians who recently attended a conference in San
Francisco, that moms who are not eating but are overweight can often fully
supply the needs of the baby as long as they take prenatal vitamins and are
not dehydrated.

When I visited her, I tried to think of the least "noxious" (to her) thing,
and she found she thought she could take milk with Carnation Instant
Breakfast (I know, Nestle product - but I'm desperate). We'll see if that
will help.

My biggest concern was the breast milk and how it was being affected, and
from what I'm getting, if baby is gaining OK, perhaps we have time to get
her to treatment without supplementing baby.

Thanks for your support.
