Patti,
I was going to respond to your e-mail privately but decided I would
like all you lactnetters to hear what I have to say. I am very sad to
hear that you will not be providing your private services. I am a
student at the University of North Dakota and I have recently
accompanied an expectant mom to a personal consultation with a LC. I
have also had the experience of sitting in on a consult that was done in
a outpatient setting. It was quite different however in the amount of
education that was given. The person giving the consult in the
outpatient setting was not nearly as compassionate about teaching "the
mom to be" proper uses of the pump, problems that could be prevented,
and the resources to call if she needed assistance. Many people
throughout your journey of "compassionate helping" owe you thanks for
being there when no one else was. Think of all the mothers you've
helped with your vast knowledge. LC's really make a difference in the
world and I wanted you all to know it!
