I truly believe that until some *professional* organizations suchas; AAP,
ACOG, Dept. of HHS, etc. start addressing these *giveaways* and other
types of formula feeding promotions, nothing will change.  For example,
the US Drug Czar has a hand in television programming/content.  You will
always see dramas and sitcoms show drug/cigarette/alcohol use with
negative outcomes, people change, they go into rehab, they get better,
etc.  That's b/c the US gov't. wants it that way.  It's a public health
issue. (yes, I know the media advisor to the drug czar).

So, until we have a Dept. of Health & Human Services who is willing to
work with the media and strong arm them into showing negative portrayals
of formula feeding and positive portrayals of breastfeeding, nothing will
change.  Until we have professional health and medical organizations who
are willing to publicly state that breastfeeding is what infants need and
write letters of protest to networks, etc., nothing will change.
Basically, we have organizations made up of wimps.

Guess I'm done being testy for the day...spring is really here...the
crocus are blooming, I'm going to try to think of all the lucky breastfed
babies and go feed mine in public, someplace :-)
