My public radio station rebroadcasted an episode from THIS AMERICAN LIFE on
"Unconditional Love" this morning and I thought many on this list would be
interested to hear it:

The episode is framed with a description of the Harrow monkey experiments.
The first segment is an extraordinary story about a boy adopted out of a
Romanian orphanage after age 7 and the family's struggle to create a bond.
The therapy that worked included mother and son staying no more than 3 feet
apart for weeks at a time. The thing that struck me is that the physical
closeness didn't extend to nighttime. Is our cultural aversion to
co-sleeping so strong that those undergoing attachment therapy won't even
consider it?
