Hi All,
I wrote a letter reviewing the ISIS pump (which I had requested as a sample)
to Avent a while back about their Isis pump. I thought it was a nice little
thing, though it had a few too many parts and could be a bit confusing to
put together. It is the ONLY hand pump (or pump of any kind) that will work
for me now (mostly a psychological thing...long story). The nifty thing
about the Isis is that it has a flexi-sheild that has "petals" in it and
when you use the pump those "petals" put gentle pressure on the milk ducts
and the milk is pressed (?) out better than with standard hard, flat
shields. I was able to get sprays of milk with this thing after 15 months
of BF and not doing any pumping (except one time at 12 months or so and that
was with the Classic and I had a VERY difficult time getting 1.5 oz. Took
me three hours to collect that...) until I tried the Isis.
Anyway, you can also vary the pumping pressure just by the amount of
pressure you use with your hand. Another thing, I have a "bad" arm and hand
(right) (injured by a car accident I was in last Dec) and I have a hard time
doing many things without pain or discomfort. I was able to use the Isis
w/o difficulty.
I hope I won't get in trouble for posting this, but there is a bit of
confusion about what pumps we are talking about lately, and I wanted to be
clear. Also, I have no stock in Avent, and do not work for them in any way.
