Hi everyone, for those of you who know or remember me from posting. I passed
the boards and I am honored to be in such wonderful company - I still feel
not worthy !!

Just a thought - I had a routine mammo today - my second since my baseline
in 1999 . Everything was fine thank God. But what a bad experience with the
radiologist, I happened to mention that I was breastfeeding for the last 4+
years, but was weaning for months and doubted there was much milk production, and
that I was definitly in the involution Stage. This radiologist ( a man)
would not even come out and talk to me, the poor tech had to go back and forth
with our discussion. I knew that there would be no problem reading the films ( I
am large and dense) - and no I was not going to totally wean my 4 yr old for
this reason and then re test in three months.

Just wondering is this just normal protocol for nursing mothers to have
weaned for three months before attempting to do a mammography. I'm sure there are
some radiologist that are educated in lactation somewhere in the US - just
not in my area. That's is another subject altogether !! Even knowing what I do
know now, I still cannot be totally sure that my daughter is getting anything
in her 2 -5 minute bed time nursing. Although she swears she does, I know
it is mostly comfort and with the flu season upon us whatever little milk she
does get - it would be benificial for her.
Thanks for all your wisdom through this last year.
