Rob you ask: "I was contacted by my hospitals PR dept about doing an
interview with an =
AP reporter regarding breatsfeeding and moms who work full time.
Besides the obvious benefits to baby, mom, employer and society any =
recommendations on things to mention?"

How about this article:

>ARCHIVES OF DISEASE IN CHILDHOOD
>Breastfeeding for less than 3 months may affect child's intelligence
>[Breastfeeding and cognitive development at age 1 and 5 years 2001; 85:
>183-8]

This points to the 'benefits' of continuing to breastfeed past 3 months -- a
point when many women might be going out to work.

Recently, on another list, someone remarked that, if we knew then what we
know now about breastfeeding, probably making it legally possible to get
women back to work before 6 months would be regarded as on a par with
slavery. I amnoty suggesting you quote that, but maybe it is worth trying
to say something about how employment practice has not been informed at all
by the social needs of children and women -- and the men who are their
fathers and partners.
