The woman should contact her state Occupational Safety & Health
Administration (OSHA) (http://www.osha.gov/ is the federal web page with
links to the regional web pages). The regional office should have someone
on staff who could identify research papers recently published on chemical
exposure and what may (or may not) get into breastmilk. Or the state OSHA
would also probably have some statistical lists already compiled of 'bad'
chemicals.

Another good resource would be the Center for Breastfeeding Information at
LLLI in Chicago. (www.lalecheleague.org). Tracy, as a Leader, you have the
right to request free copies of papers that the CBI has collected, so give
them a call yourself! Or go through your Area Professional Liaison.

Of course, one would think that while pregnant the mother should have or
would have done this already! Of course, she's probably not a union
worker...

Janna Frelich, LLL Leader, LLL of Boston, MA
(who's real life programming job is at an occupational health research
program at a major university)
