I have a dear friend who is actively trying to convert her classmates/profs
at dental hygiene school about the superiority of bf as it relates to her
field. She specifically wants to know about differences in dental caries
between breastfed and bottle babies, as well as differences in malocclusion
(sp.?) and effects on the temporal mandibular joint. She is trying to bloom
where she is planted, bless her! Also had a very interesting conversation
with an ear, nose and throat doc last week who was seeing my 4 year old for
fluid in the ears. I told him I had used expressed breastmilk at different
times for ear infections in my children, with excellent results, per Dr. Jay
Gordon's recommendations at a conference. He was EXTREMELY skeptical, and
he and his 2 nurses gave me that condescending "yes, you're a little
radical" smile, and he told me Yes, he believed that, but maybe it only
didn't hurt anything to try, but only if the baby/child was also on good
antibiotics, and the milk couldn't possibly penetrate the eardrum and get
behind there. So I am scrambling to put my money where my mouth is. Any
great ideas? I am also doing Lactnet searches. So if teeth and ears are a
special interest for any of you, please post or email me privately. Many
thanks! (Note: I know I heard a dentist at an Ohio LC conference a few
years ago, but I can't locate the notes...he may have touched on this, but I
no longer know his name, etc.)

spring in the air this afternoon!
