Actually, Dr Wight, with all due respect, my understanding is that the
State of California defines a milk bank as any location that does nay of
the following: testing and qualifying donors, collecting milk, storing
milk, processing milk or dispensing milk. We have simply subcontracted the
processing and dispensing to Prolacta. Based on my understanding , there
is no such legal entity as a milk collection depot. Even if someone
accepts and stores milk and then sends it to another milk bank (like San
Jose) for processing, they need to be a licensed milk bank. I don't quite
understand what you mean by "milk bank" having more PR appeal, we just
find that women asre thrilled to hear that there's a convenient place to
donate milk.

I'm disappointed to hear that it sounds like we can't join HMBANA after
all. So help me understand, the milk collection depot at Mary Birch
Hospital isn't a member of HMBANA either? But there are several milk banks
in the Midwest that send their milk to Austin to process, but they are
members of HMBANA. Can you send me more information about that because I'm
interested to find out more.

Thanks Dr Wight for your information. It sounds like there are a lot of
issues that you're concerned about. Please let me know if I can be of any
help.
Thanks
STacy Brown
