The "no free lunch" site is entertaining and informative. I recently wrote a piece ( in my monthly column locally) on this topic, specifically in child health offices and as a childbirth educator.
I specifically mentioned infant formula companies providing "infant nutrition" info and how this should be questioned by mothers. We'll see if it makes the cut, or if I am asked to provide an alternative piece.
I am taking inventory of how much commercial literature I hand out to new mothers- even Lamaze magazines and the sort. It is still commercial bias, and although not a drug, commercial endorsement of any product in healthcare is in a gray area to me. For the few handouts that I love that have a brand name, I am known to black it out or put a sticker over it- or mention a comparitive brand name.
