Business news today speculated that Bristol-Myers-Squibb, parent of Mead Johnson formula manufacturer, will be selling Mead Johnson to none other than Nestle.

This of course bears watching as Nestle has been gobbling up infant nutrition companies at a rapid rate.

Another note of interest is that the Department of Agriculture has just placed in the Federal Register a call for public comments on the interim rule for the revised WIC food packages. This call for comments can be found at

It is important to provide input on how breastfeeding will be addressed in these rules. Some changes have been made to the food packages based on the first round of comments, including adding a third category of partially breastfed infants. Since?almost 50% of US infants receive WIC services this is an important issue for breastfeeding advocates to comment on.
