Regarding discomfort (physical or emotional) and nursing while pregnant:
I expected it, I waited for it and outside of some tender nipples that
resolved at about 4 months into the pregnancy, it never happened. Now,
my son was a little over three, and only nursing at bedtime, but every
night. He nursed for the second to last time the night I went into
labor, then nursed for the very last time our first night home, after a
three day stay. I think he was actually a little offended that there
was milk there :-).

On to my question: Visited my WIC clinic today and picked up a pamphlet
on iron for babies. (They looked at me funny when I said I didn't want
cereal yet--she's only 5 mos old and not even sort of ready or
interested.) Anyway, the pamphlet is generally okay. Recommends breast
milk or iron fortified ABM exclusively for 4 mos., then to begin to add
iron rich foods. The thing I question is that it says, twice, that
breastfed babies may need an iron supplement at 6 mos (and to check with
your doctor). Okay, I don't necessarily have a problem with that, but
it never mentions that ABM fed babies need iron supps at a comparable
time.
Do they not? I really don't know, but am curious. Or is it just assumed
that babies fed ABM will already be on iron enriched cereal by that age,
while an exclusively breastfed baby might not? Inquiring minds wish to
know...

way too formalized and complicated and thinks spooning strained food
into little mouths is highly overrated as an experience)
