Hang on, though - are you saying it is your friend's gym which is imposing
these restrictions, or the UK in general? It's difficult to gauge from your
original post. If it's the gym, then she has the usual options: join a
different gym with a more enlightened attitude, or engage in a
letter-writing campaign over the next 20 weeks to try to get them to change
their minds. Private gyms are for members only and they can impose all sorts
of silly rules on a whim: at mine it's things like parents must keep their
children quiet at all times - total madness. Personally, I find the inane
gossip of the women in the changing room far more offensive.
