Approx 6 months ago I posted to LACTNET re: CBFWs ....(crazy breastfeeding
weirdos; meaning men who seem to be obsessed in a perverted way with the idea
of b-feeding) I mentioned the frequency of harrassing instant messages that I
receive on AOL from these men, and wanted to know if there were any
similarities in people with this disorder....particularly, if their own
personal experiences with breastfeeding influenced their perversion. Since I
posted, I interviewed 63 CBFWs that im-ed me....52 chose to answer my
questions, I don't know how honest their answers were; but this is what I
found:

average age 49, youngest man age 23, oldest man 79
sex 52 males 0 women
marital status 6 married, 19 divorced or widowed, 24 single, 3 no reply
sexual orientation 1 bi-sexual, 51 heterosexual
8 fathers, 5 with wives that breastfed
44 said they were not breastfed as children *, 6 said they did not know if
they were and couldn't find out, 2 were breastfed, but not extended (past one
year)
*this was a question that many of the participants did not know the answer to
right away...they were asked to find out and email me
with 5 being the best rating and 1 being the lowest:
38 rated their relationship with their mother with a 1 or 2, 10 responded with
a 3, and only 4 responded with ratings of 4 or 5
when asked the question: can you name 5 reasons why breastfeeding is good for
infants and young children?
31 did not respond, 8 were able to list 2 or 3 reasons, 4 were able to list 4
or 5 reasons, and 9 responded with answers that I found unacceptable (sexually
inappropriate and off the subject)

Just thought some of you would find this interesting...It's my lame little
attempt at trying to prove that breastfeeding and extended breastfeeding may
provide yet another benefit...perhaps less men will grow up to be CBFWs...hope
no-one thinks I'm a complete luatic for conducting the study...
warmly,
