This is an issue that was discussed a few years ago. I agree with Bethany's
implication that this is not just a "growth spurt". I see mothers like this
all the time, even without the red herrings of ibuprofen or illness.

What's going on? I don't know, but this is a perfect situation in which to
use domperidone. The mother's milk bounces right back within a day or two
(usually) and she is off the domperidone in 7 to 14 days.

By the way, the giving of formula to a 4 month old because he is hungry is
only going to make the situation worse, especially if given by bottle.
Wouldn't it be better just to give the baby some solids by spoon or off the
mother's finger?
