This is one of my favorite topics! I like the Nils Bergman videos as well,
but I'm not sure they are the best suited for parents. They are even a bit
technical for staff, though that has its place. One video I think is really
good (and it comes in bite-sized sections so you can show just parts of it)
is the Johnson & Johnson video, Amazing Talents of the Newborn, based on
Marshall Klaus's work. It contains the following sections:

-The First Hour -From the moment of birth the newborn is able to observe and
be an active participant in his world.

-Infant States -Newborn behavior is not random, but organized into discreet
states of activity and consciousness.

-Infant Temperament -Recognizing temperament provides helpful information in
understanding a newborn's behavior.

-The Senses -A newborn uses all her senses to learn about-and interact with
-her world.

-Movement and Rhythm -Newborns are capable of remarkable emotional
engagement with those who attune themselves to the newborn's signals.

-Breastfeeding -New research highlights a newborn's extraordinary ability to
move to mother's breast soon after birth, demonstrating the newborn's innate
ability to survive and bond with his mother.

-Attachment -The process of emotional attachment from parent to infant moves
at a different pace for every parent.

-Fathers -A father should be encouraged to interact with and care for his
infant to help solidify his attachment to his baby.

I have no financial interest in this video. I just find it to be very
appealing to watch and it presents the information in a warm and
understandable way. Sometimes I had a little trouble understanding the
accents of the Bergman videos, which might make them less appealing to a
less-than-enthusiastic group, though they are still very good! (Of course,
I'm thinking of an American audience. Others wouldn't necessarily have a
problem with the accent!) There are booklets to go with the video and a
separate booklet on skin-to-skin, as well as other good resources. Here's
the website: http://www.jjpi.com/portal/jnj/jjpi. Click on the
"professionals" link.
Congrats on the opportunities your hard work and persistence have brought
you. I hope you find what you're looking for!

Marsha
