I weigh small babies prone, especially if they are not comfortable in
sidelying (my other go to position for weighing). Older babies try to
scoot out of the scale if they are prone! I weigh crawlers and toddlers
in a sitting position.

When I taught maternity nursing I would discuss this with the students, but in all the hospitals I have worked in in the past decade - in Canada, and internationally, the routine of weighing babies supine persists.
