I have had a primip birth easily in water over the weekend. Physiological 3rd stage that took 6 hours with minimal blood loss.

The babe was 3550g birthweight, had dropped on day 3 to 3100, and today day 5 babe had lost another 10g, so is now 3090g. This babe seems to be latching well, satisfied in between feeds. Mum cosleeps and feeds babe on demand, usually 2-3 hours. Sometimes more. Babe is getting at least 6 wet nappies a day and is pooing at least once daily. There is no clinical sign of jaundice.

The mothers breasts are grossly asymetrical. She did have a grazed nipple overnight on day 2., but knows when it happened and wasn't quick enough to get bub off (she was very tired). That has since healed and she her breasts are otherwise intact.

I have suggested this programme but would like some advice from others who have had more experience than me.

90 minutes from feed to feed, counting from beginning of feed. Wake babe up to feed.
Do breast compressions during feed to help push out the milk
Feed for 15 minutes (so babe isn't getting to tired and not getting anywhere)
Hand express after feed (to organise electirc breastpump in the morning with ABA)
Syringe this milk to babe.

Repeat on second breast.

Test weigh all nappies. Note if wet or poo or both. And the time you change the nappy.

Watch for good latch to breast.

Is there anything else that I should be doing or not doing?

TIA!
Rachaelx
