I just received a sample of an anti-bacterial wipe for pumps and a bag to
microwave parts. The instructions and recommendations on the microwave bag
is that this is to be used after every use. They go on to list all the
organisms that are killed with this sterilizing.
Now, I can see the wipes for the mom who is pumping frequently at work but I
find the microwave bag excessive and possibly dangerous for burns.
I would like to see the literature that states babies are being infected with
bacteria from pumping. If there is really good studies out there, then I can
be persuaded to make these poor mother work harder and be more paranoid that
they may harm their babies if they do not sterilize. But I have not seen
this and I want mothers to pump for their babies and not feel overwhelmed or
over anxious when there is no proof.
We do not live in a sterile society, clean is where we need our emphasis.
Please enlighten me, I look forward to the reading.
