I found it interesting that nowhere in the press release does it state
*why* one would need to use the new, thickened formula. We all know that
formula (or breastmilk) thickened with rice cereal may be touted as a
solution to treat reflux, or to help "hold" a baby longer between feeds, or
to sleep through the night (yeah right), but no where does M-J make any of
these claims. Could that be because *it has never been proven to work*???!!!
Won't stop them from marketing a potential new product to gullable new
parents however. Pediatricians, too, I'd bet.
What ever happened to those "convience" pacifiers containing two ounces of
formula? I saw an ad for those a year ago but haven't seen the actual
product anywhere. Also frightening to me is the new rice cereal also
containing powdered formula- "just add water". Scares me because I can see
an exclusively breastfeeding mom pick that up at the market not realising
what it really is...
